Established in 1985, Essex Woodlands is one of the oldest and most respected healthcare growth equity and venture capital firms in the world. We currently have $2.5 billion under management and are investing out of our eighth fund of $900 million, which closed in 2009.  The majority of our capital is allocated to growth equity with a minority targeted towards traditional venture capital investments

We have a global reach through our five offices with active investments in the US, Europe, Asia and, most recently, Latin America. For over 28 years, we have maintained our dedicated focus to diversified healthcare investing—serving as lead investor in the founding or critical financings of over 150 healthcare companies in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, services and information technology sectors. Our investment practice includes seed, late venture, growth equity, PIPE and buyout financings, with a majority of capital geared towards the latter three.  We have established ourselves among seasoned management teams and world class entrepreneurs as the preferred partner to build best-of-breed companies in health care industry.
