
Steve Wiggins founded Oxford Health Plans and served 14 years as the company's Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, Oxford grew to over $5 billion in annual revenue and ranked among the 300 largest U.S. corporations. He was also the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HealthMarket, Inc., an insurance company that gave birth to innovative Consumer Driven Health Plans and grew to over $150 million in revenue before being acquired by UICI in November 2004. He co-founded Health Partners, Inc. in 1993, a physician practice management company that grew to $140 million in annual revenue before it was sold. He was also a principal co-Founder of Intelliclaim, Inc., which provided claim auditing and productivity software and services to over twenty health insurers before it was sold to McKesson and BenefitPort, LLC, a consolidation of health insurance general agencies. He has also been an active private equity investor on his own and in partnership with private equity funds, typically originating transactions or organizing new businesses.
Mr. Wiggins
joined Essex Woodlands in 2007. He serves on the Board of
Directors for
Touchstone Health Partnership, Inc. and Ika Systems.
He is a director of
Accessible Space, Inc, a nonprofit organization he founded in 1978, that develops and
operates residential facilities for individuals with mobility
impairments and brain injuries. Mr. Wiggins holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from Macalester College, where he currently serves as a Trustee.
