Echo Therapeutics (formerly Sontra Medical, Inc.) is focused on transdermal continuous glucose monitoring (tCGM) systems for people with diabetes and advanced topical reformulations of FDA-approved specialty pharmaceuticals. Echo's Symphony tCGM is a next generation, non-invasive (needle-free), wireless, tCGM system in development for home use and hospital critical care markets.  

InSound Medical is an early stage company founded in 1998 to develop minimally invasive hearing products designed to overcome dissatisfaction among current hearing aid wearers as well as barriers to use among hearing impaired non-users. The Company will utilize ear-nose-throat (ENT) physicians to market and install their devices.  ENT’s have heretofore been excluded from the $2 billion hearing aid market.

LipoSonix is a medical device company focused on the development of proprietary technology for noninvasive cosmetic surgery applications. Current product development efforts are targeted at the aesthetic body contouring market.


Medlogics is an early stage medical device company developing a broad platform technology for innovative drug delivery. The initial focus is product development of polymer-free stent drug delivery.


MicroMed Cardiovascular, Inc. (now E-Wilson, LLC) has developed the DeBakey ventricular assist device (VAD) pioneered by famed heart surgeon Dr. Michael E. DeBakey under a joint research and development collaboration with NASA. The DeBakey VAD serves as a bridge to heart transplant, a bridge to native heart recovery, and/or treatment for congestive heart failure.

NeoVista, Inc. is developing an intraocular epiretinal radiation device intended for the treatment of the wet form of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).

Novacept designs, develops, manufactures and markets innovative therapeutic devices to improve the quality of women's healthcare in a cost-effective manner. Novacept was sold to Cytyc Corporation in March 2004.

Orthopedic Resources, Inc. (dba Bledsoe Brace Systems)
is a leader in the orthopedic bracing market. Founded in 1982, it was the first company to develop a post-operative knee brace, and has continued to build on its 25-year reputation of quality clinical products and design leadership. Bledsoe’s products are used both domestically and internationally by orthopedic surgeons, podiatrists, orthotists, and physical therapists to address musculoskeletal disorders of their patients by supporting and protecting injured or weakened joints.

Orthovita currently has four key commercial product platforms: Vitoss Bone Graft Substitute, Vitagel Surgical Hemostat, Cortoss Synthetic Cortical Bone, and Imbibe Delivery and Disposable Systems.


Proteus Biomedical was founded in 2001 to apply its state-of-the-art semiconductor technology to the treatment of cardiovascular disease. The company's clinical focus is on the management of congestive heart failure (CHF), a debilitating condition resulting from progressive weakening of the heart's pumping ability. Proteus Biomedical is based in Silicon Valley, California. Its products are currently under development.

 


ROX Medical
represents a mid-late stage medical device opportunity in the large, growing, underserved market of late end state COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) patients. 

Sound ID's proprietary sound source signal enhancement technology, deployable in a wide variety of products in the communication and entertainment markets, provides personalization of sound to an individual’s unique hearing profile, and dynamic optimization of sound in response to noise in the listener’s environment.

Thermage markets non-invasive skin tightening devices for cosmetic indications. The system heats the deep skin tissues, causing collagen shrinkage, while cooling the skin surface.  No incisions are required and side effects associated with lasers are avoided. The technology has multiple potential applications, including treatments for facial skin tightening, acne and acne scarring, stretch marks, breast lifting and fat dissipation. Several types of disposable treatment tips are designed for various applications and anatomic sites. Thermage has secured regulatory clearance for marketing the system.
